The outer convex curvature of UV Fused Silica Positive Meniscus Lenses is greater than that of the inner concave radius, and the focal length is positive, which minimizes spherical aberration. When combined with another lens, the positive meniscus lens can shorten the focal length, thereby increasing the numerical aperture (NA) of the system without introducing significant spherical aberrations. When used to converge collimating light, to minimize spherical aberration, light should be incident from the convex surface of the lens.
UV positive meniscus lenses are based on UV fused silica, which is ideal for applications in the UV to near-infrared bands due to its high transmittance in the deep ultraviolet region and its very low fluorescence level compared to natural quartz with little to no laser-induced fluorescence. In addition, compared with K9 glass, it has a wider spectral range (185-2100nm), better homogeneity, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion.
