The external convex curvature of UV Fused Silica Negative Meniscus Lenses is less than that of the inner concave radius, and the focal length is negative, which can reduce the three-level spherical aberration. When combined with another lens, a negative meniscus lens can increase the focal length and thus reduce the numerical aperture (NA). When used to diverge light, to minimize spherical aberration, light should enter from the convex surface of the lens.
UV negative meniscus lenses are based on UV fused silica, which is ideal for applications in the UV to near-infrared bands due to the high transmittance provided by UV silica in the deep UV region and its very low fluorescence level compared to natural quartz with little to no laser-induced fluorescence. In addition, compared with K9 glass, it has a wider spectral range (185-2100nm), better homogeneity, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion.
