The mid-infrared zero-grade waveplate consists of two magnesium fluoride waveplates bonded by optical adhesive, with their optical axes orthogonal. The thickness difference between the two magnesium fluoride substrates can probably produce zero-level phase extension, and the optical glue process ensures that the optical path is free of glue. Mid-infrared zero-grade waveplates are insensitive to temperature and wavelength, and are widely used in the 2.5-6.0 micron band. Its phase delay is π/2 or π (i.e., one-quarter or one-half wave). One-half waveforms are commonly used to rotate the direction of polarization of linearly polarized light, while quarter waveforms are commonly used to convert linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light.
Dimension-Labs offers a wide range of Mid-Infrared Zero Grade Waveplates (specific types and parameters can be filtered in the details below).
