The K9 Plano Convex Cylinder Lenses consist of a flat plane and a convex cylinder with a positive focal length, making them ideal for 1D magnification applications. Spherical lenses have a symmetrical effect on incident light in two directions, while cylindrical lenses have only one effect on incident light. A single column lens can focus the divergent beam onto a detector array, while a pair of plano-convex cylindrical lenses can be used to collimate and circularize the output of the laser diode to achieve shaping of the deformed beam. In order to minimize spherical aberration, collimating light should be incident from the curved surface of the lens when converging the collimating beam into a line, and when the collimating light source is used, the line light source should be incident from the plane of the lens.

K9 plano-convex cylindrical lenses are based on RoHS-compliant K9 glass, which has excellent broad-spectral transmission characteristics (high transmittance at wavelengths of 350nm-2000nm), high hardness, and can withstand a variety of physical or chemical stimuli, so it is often used as a substrate for a variety of optical components.
