Corner cube prisms are internal total reflection prisms manufactured according to the critical angle principle, which are mostly used for beam collimation or laser rangefinders. Its angular cone consists of three right angled faces perpendicular to each other, and the incident light forms a total reflection on the three right angle faces, reflecting the image or beam back to the original direction through three reflections. It is not affected by the size of the angle of incidence, even if the angle of incidence is not zero, it will reflect the incident light by 180°, and its accuracy is expressed by the angular error (parallelism) of the incident and outgoing rays. Because the pyramid prism has this alignment-independent property, it is very much a back-reflecting optic. The pyramid was originally developed to measure the distance between the moon and the earth, and was set on the lunar surface when the Apollo spacecraft landed on the moon.
K9 pyramid prism is based on RoHS-compliant K9 glass, which has excellent broad spectral transmission characteristics (high transmittance at 350nm-2000nm wavelengths) and high hardness, so it can withstand a variety of physical or chemical stimuli, so it is often used as a substrate for a variety of optical components.
Dimension-labs offers a wide range of K9 pyramid prisms (specific sizes and parameters can be filtered from the details below) to meet the variety of applications you need.
