Dimension labs' piezoelectric ceramic stack consists of multiple piezoelectric ceramic chips stacked face-to-face and bonded together using adhesive. Therefore, these piezoelectric ceramic stacks have significantly greater free travel than individual piezoelectric ceramic chips, while maintaining sub millisecond response times and lower driving voltage ranges.
The two mounting surfaces of the piezoelectric ceramic stack are covered with ceramic end caps, with one end being a flat end cap and the other end being a flat or hemispherical end cap. A hemispherical end cap can expose the curved surface and connect it to the load. Ceramic end caps not only help distribute the force applied by the load on the mounting surface of the stack, but also assist in guiding the force along the axis of movement of the driver. Flat end caps and hemispherical end caps have different advantages. When the load is along the translation axis of the driver, the planar end cap can achieve maximum force transmission due to its large contact area. The hemispherical end cap allows the driver to engage off-axis loads, as the curved surface causes the force to move along the driver's translation axis.
Each stack has insulating ceramic layers on its four sides to isolate moisture. Compared with epoxy resin coating, ceramic layer can better isolate moisture. For convenience, all of our specifications come with the option to weld 75mm wire (AWG32, PTFE insulated).
The size, voltage range, and coating of the piezoelectric stack can be customized.
