The circular gradient neutral density filter provides linearly adjustable attenuation through a rotating coating area. The optical density varies linearly in the arc plane from 0° to 270°, and the attenuation value can be easily adjusted by rotating the filter. These filters consist of a K9 glass substrate and a metal reflective film. When the metal reflective film is not coated with a protective layer, it needs to be cleaned by blowing air and not touched, otherwise it may scratch the surface of the film layer. Although these are reflective neutral density filters, metal reflective films absorb some of the incident light, so these filters are used in low-power applications.
