Infrared Aspherical Lenses

An aspherical lens is a special type of lens whose most distinguishing geometric feature is that the radius of curvature varies with distance from the optical axis. This is different from a spherical lens, where all parts of the lens have the same radius. Aspherical lenses can control the direction of incident light by varying the curvature of the lens surface, thereby suppressing aberration to a low level.

This special design allows aspheric lenses to provide higher optical performance than standard spherical lenses. It can compensate for a wide range of aberrations, including spherical and chromatic aberrations, thus improving the performance of the lens. In addition, aspherical lenses can improve optical quality, reduce the number of optical components, and lower the cost of optical system structure design.

Aspherical lenses have a wide range of applications in many fields, for example, they are often used in fields such as laser collimation and optical imaging. In addition, because an aspherical lens can better correct spherical aberration and chromatic aberration, it is widely used in the optical instrument, image, and optoelectronics industries. In particular, the infrared aspherical lens can be used to collimate light from short-wave infrared (SWIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR).
