CaF₂ Plano Convex Lenses have a positive focal length and are suitable for applications such as imaging or beam collimation. To minimize spherical aberration, when used for collimating beam focusing, the beam should be incident on the lens surface; When used for point light collimation, it should be incident on the plane.
CaF₂ planoconvex lenses are based on calcium fluoride, and the transmission spectral range of calcium fluoride is wide (180nm-8.0μm), with high damage threshold, low fluorescence and high homogeneity. Calcium fluoride has a low refractive index (1.35 to 1.51 in the applicable range), good chemical inertness, and has high hardness characteristics compared with similar materials such as barium fluoride and magnesium fluoride, and is often used in applications with high transmittance requirements in the infrared and ultraviolet spectral ranges.
